What we do
We empower women in the built environment by promoting inclusion, addressing attrition, and increasing female leadership and influence.
Join us today and help shape a more inclusive built environment.
What we are
We are an international, multi-disciplinary network that includes architects, engineers, landscape architects, contractors, surveyors, planners, policy makers and urbanists; also those commissioning the design of the built environment in the public and private sectors, NGOs and charities; also academics and industry based institutes.
Our network is free to join: anyone who supports our aims and subscribes to our Ethical Code can join the network.

Sponsors
We are hugely grateful to our sponsors, without whom we would not be able to deliver our ambitious plans to help the industry through better gender diversity.
Our aims
Global network for change
To create an international network open to new initiatives and making change happen.
Women's needs in design
To promote the needs, preferences and aspirations of women in the design of our built environment.
More women leaders
To increase the number of women at the top of organisations that create and shape the built environment.
Industry diversity and inclusion
To influence the industry to deliver diversity and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on women.
Reducing women's attrition
To address the attrition rate of women working within the industry.
Our aspiration is to support the industry, not simply to campaign for women.
Our activities
Lead by example
Demonstrate best practice in gender equality within the built environment projects we undertake.
Undertake research
Conduct evidence based research and studies to support and promote gender balance.
Run events
Organise workshops, seminars, and conferences to foster collaboration and learning.
Influence and support change

Develop strategic advice
Provide support to organisations on achieving gender equity, including toolkits.
Share knowledge
Disseminate findings, insights, resources and best practice through events, publications, online platforms and our international networks.
"The world we live in should be designed for everyone: those that are powerful and those that are less well-represented.”
The steering group
The Equilibrium Network is led by a multi-disciplinary group of individuals, all working at the highest levels within a wide variety of organisations that influence and create the built environment.
